Our Company
Why shop at Sweat Tent?
Sweat Tent was built for one thing: making real heat and recovery accessible at home. We design, ship, and stand behind portable wood-fired saunas, cold plunges, red light therapy systems, and the accessories that go with them. Every product is backed by a 1-Year Manufacturer's Warranty, a 60-Day Return Window with free return shipping, and a US-based support team that actually picks up the phone, or rather, the email.
What makes Sweat Tent different from other brands?
Most home sauna companies sell a piece of furniture you have to build into your house. We took a different path. The Sweat Tent sets up in about 15 minutes, stores in a duffel, and gives you the same wood-fired heat profile you'd find in a traditional Finnish sauna. Around it, we've built a full ritual: cold plunge, red light therapy, cedar bench, wool hat, eucalyptus oil, the works. One brand, one warranty, one team to call when you need help.
The Sweat Tent
How do I set up my Sweat Tent?
Setup takes about 15 minutes with one person and is faster with two. The tent uses a hub-and-pole frame system: assemble the poles, raise the canopy, secure the chimney jack, and stake the corners. The included instruction card walks you through it step by step, and we have a setup video on the product page.
What's in the box?
Standard Bundle includes:
- Sweat Tent- Stove- Rocks + basket
- Thermometer
- Fire poker
- Heat gloves
- Roof cover
Pro Bundle includes everything in the Standard Bundle, plus:
- Bench
- Towel
- Hat
- Essential oils
How does the Sweat Tent generate heat?
The Sweat Tent is heated by a wood-burning stove that sits inside the tent and vents through the chimney jack in the canopy. Heat profile is dry, with the option to ladle water on the rocks for steam, the same way a traditional Finnish sauna works.
How hot does it get inside?
160 to 200+°F, depending on wood load, outside temperature, and how the fire is maintained.
How long does it take to heat up?
About 15 minutes from lighting the fire to reaching session-ready temperature.
Can I use the Sweat Tent indoors?
No. Absolutely not.
What surface should I set it up on?
Flat, stable ground. Dirt, grass, gravel, or similar outdoor surfaces all work.
Can I leave it set up year-round?
You can, but we don't recommend it. The tent should be stored indoors during extreme weather. Long-term exposure to sun, rain, snow, or wind can shorten its lifespan and may void the warranty.
If not properly staked, the tent can also be knocked over and damaged. Using the roof cover adds protection between sessions.
How portable is it?
Very portable. The tent packs down, and the stove breaks apart for transport. People regularly take it to backyards, cabins, campsites, beaches, and more. It's one of the only truly portable wood-fired sauna setups available.
How many people fit inside?
- Large: up to 6 people
- Extra Large: up to 10 people
Does the Sweat Tent come in different sizes?
Yes. Large and Extra Large.
How long does it last?
With proper use and storage, expect multiple years of regular use. Keeping it dry and out of direct sunlight between sessions will extend its lifespan.
Can I travel with my Sweat Tent?
Yes. It fits in most cars and SUVs when packed down. Air travel is not recommended. If you're looking to ship it, email contact@sweattent.com.
Do you ship internationally?
Not at this time. Sweat Tent currently ships to US addresses only. International orders are not eligible for return.
What is the warranty on the Sweat Tent?
1-year limited manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Full coverage details are in [Section 9, Shipping, Returns & Warranty](#9-shipping-returns--warranty).
Wood-Fired Heat & The Sauna Stove
Why wood-fired instead of electric or infrared?
Wood-fired heat is the original sauna experience. It's what Finnish saunas have used for centuries. The combination of high dry heat, the ability to add water for steam (löyly), and the ritual of tending a fire creates a session that electric heaters and infrared panels can't fully replicate. Infrared saunas have their own benefits, which is why we also sell red light and infrared products. They're complementary, not competing.
What kind of stove is included?
A purpose-built portable wood-burning stove with:
- Chimney pipe
- Removable rock basket
- Sealed stove door for efficient burning
What kind of wood should I burn?
Dry, seasoned hardwood. We recommend white birch. It burns clean, hot, and produces minimal smoke. Avoid:
- Softwoods (pine, cedar)
- Treated or painted wood
- Wet or green wood
Do you sell firewood?
Yes. We sell white birch directly on our site. It lights easily, burns hot, and produces less smoke than softer woods.
Can I use sauna rocks?
Yes. The stove includes a rock basket.
Only use sauna-grade rocks. Regular rocks can crack or explode under high heat or when water is applied.
How do I maintain the stove?
- Let it fully cool before cleaning
- Wipe exterior with a dry cloth- Inspect door seal periodically
- Clean chimney pipe to remove creosote buildup
- Store indoors when not in use
Some surface oxidation is normal. Keeping it dry is the best way to prevent rust.
Can I use a different stove with the Sweat Tent?
Our stove is designed specifically for the chimney jack and footprint of the Sweat Tent. Using a third-party stove may damage the tent and will not be covered under warranty.
How much wood does a session use?
A typical session burns roughly 1/5 of a bundle of firewood.
General Sauna Information
Will I need to hire an electrician?
No. The Sweat Tent is a wood-fired sauna. There is no electrical hookup required for the sauna itself. Cold plunges and red light therapy products do require standard household power, which is covered in their dedicated sections below.
Is dry heat safe?
For most healthy adults, yes. Sauna use has been studied extensively in Finnish populations and is associated with cardiovascular and recovery benefits. That said: we are not doctors. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, low blood pressure, or any medical condition, consult your physician before using a sauna. Never use a sauna while intoxicated or dehydrated.
How long should a typical session be?
Typical sessions range from 10 to 30 minutes depending on experience level and comfort.
Can I put my Sweat Tent outside?
Yes. The Sweat Tent is designed for outdoor use. The tent and stove must be stored indoors during extreme weather (heavy snow, hurricanes, prolonged rain). Failure to do so may void the warranty.
How do I maintain my Sweat Tent?
- Let the tent and stove fully cool before packing.
- Wipe down interior surfaces with a dry cloth after each session.
- Empty the stove ash pan when cool.
- Inspect zippers, seams, and chimney jack monthly.
- Store everything dry and indoors between uses.
- Clean the chimney pipe each season.
How loud is it?
The stove itself is silent during burn. The crackle of the fire is the only sound. There is no electric motor, blower, or fan.
Can I use the Sweat Tent in the winter?
Yes. It performs in cold weather and has been used in extreme conditions, including harsh winters.
Can I use it in the rain?
The tent is weather-resistant for normal rain. Avoid setup during heavy storms, lightning, or high winds.
If the tent gets wet, allow the canopy to fully air dry before packing it away.
Red Light Therapy (Panel, Mat, Pod)
What red light therapy products do you sell?
Three product families:
- Panel Series. Full-body wall-mountable panels. Four-wavelength: 630 + 660 + 810 + 850nm.
- SunMat Series. Flexible mat for laying or wrapping over the body. Two-wavelength: 660 + 850nm at a 1:2 ratio.
- SunPod Series. Enclosed full-body pod. Two-wavelength: 660 + 850nm at a 1:2 ratio.
Each is sold standalone, with optional stands (Mobile Panel Stand, Lifting Panel Stand) for the Panel Series.
What wavelengths does each product use, and why?
- 630nm and 660nm are red light wavelengths absorbed primarily at the skin and just below the surface. Associated with collagen, skin texture, and surface-level circulation.
- 810nm and 850nm are deeper-penetrating wavelengths absorbed in muscle, joint, and deeper tissue. Associated with recovery, soreness, and inflammation.
The Panel Series is our only 4-wavelength product, designed for full-spectrum coverage. The Mat and Pod focus on the 660 + 850nm pair at a 1:2 ratio, which is the most studied combination for whole-body red light therapy.
What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy (also called photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of red and infrared light delivered through LEDs to interact with cells in the skin and underlying tissue. Research has linked it with skin appearance, muscle recovery, joint comfort, and sleep quality. We are not making medical claims. We are pointing to a body of peer-reviewed research that you can read on our blog.
Is red light therapy safe?
Generally, yes, for most users. Side effects are rare and typically limited to mild eye fatigue if you stare directly at the LEDs without protection. Pregnant users, anyone on photosensitizing medication, and anyone with a medical condition should consult a doctor before use.
How long does it take to see results?
Most users report noticeable changes (skin, soreness, sleep) after 4 to 8 weeks of consistent use at 3 to 5 sessions per week, typically 10 to 20 minutes per session. Results vary by person, wavelength, and consistency.
How do I use the Panel, Mat, or Pod?
- Panel: stand or sit 6 to 18 inches from the panel surface. Treat front, then back. Most users do 10 to 20 minutes total.
- Mat: lay flat on the mat or wrap it over a target area. Use for 10 to 20 minutes.
- Pod: lie inside the pod. Set the timer. 15 to 20 minutes is the standard session length.
Skin should be clean, dry, and uncovered for the area being treated. More skin exposed = more light absorbed.
Should I wear eye protection?
The included eye shields (or dedicated red light therapy goggles) are recommended, especially for face and head sessions. Don't stare directly into the LEDs.
Why can't I see all of the LEDs working?
Some LEDs emit at 810nm and 850nm, which fall above the visible spectrum and are invisible to the human eye. If a portion of your panel or pod looks "off" but the device is running, those are likely the 810nm or 850nm LEDs doing their work invisibly. If you're concerned, contact us with a video clip and we'll verify.
Does red light therapy interact with medications?
Some medications increase photosensitivity. Examples include certain antibiotics, retinoids, and chemotherapy drugs. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on any prescription medication.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the LED-facing surface with a soft, dry or barely-damp microfiber cloth between sessions. Don't spray cleaners directly onto LEDs. Don't submerge.
What's the warranty on red light products?
1 year from the order date under the Limited Manufacturer's Warranty, covering manufacturing defects.
Do you offer stands or wall-mounting hardware?
Yes. The Mobile Panel Stand and Lifting Panel Stand are designed for the Panel Series and sold separately. The Mat and Pod do not require stands.
Cold Plunge
Portable, packable cold plunge designed to go where you go. Best for travel, secondary locations, and anyone who values flexibility. Uses ice or a separate chiller for cooling.
What temperature should I run my cold plunge at?
We recommend using the plunge between 36°F and 46°F, depending on experience level and comfort. The system is capable of going lower if desired.
Do I need to change the water frequently?
With ice-only use, change the water as needed. With the optional sanitation accessories, water can stay longer.
Do the plunges come with covers?
Cover availability varies by SKU. See the product page for the configuration you're considering.
Does the Plunge have built-in drainage?
Yes. The Sweat Tent Plunge has integrated side drainage for fast emptying. Connect a standard hose and drain to your yard or a drain.
Can I place my cold plunge outdoors?
Yes. They are designed for indoor or outdoor use. For the Plunge (inflatable), avoid setup on sharp surfaces and store packed when not in regular use.
What's the warranty on cold plunges?
1-Year Limited Manufacturer's Warranty on both products, covering defects in materials and workmanship. Customer pays shipping on approved warranty replacements. Checkout+ extends coverage to 365 days and covers use-related damage. Full details in [Section 9](#9-shipping-returns--warranty).
